Peri Olson

Peri Olson

Responsibilities

As President, Peri is responsible for managing, leading, and delegating tasks to advance the mission of PAID. He is also responsible for maintaining relationships with the ID department, industry partners (current and prospective), and Texas A&M University. Ultimately, the president’s main priority is to leave PAID better than they found it. Along with maintaining department and industry relationships, Peri leads weekly PAID officer meetings that facilitate the goals of the organization. It is the president’s job to implement a strategy to advance the organization while accomplishing PAID’s mission statement, to connect students to industry.

Path to ID and PAID

When applying to Texas A&M, Peri knew she wanted to study in the College of Engineering; however, she originally thought she wanted to major in Computer Science. Shortly after becoming a member of the FLO, Freshman Reaching Excellence in Engineering (FREE), Peri developed a strong relationship with her BIG mentor, who was a senior in ID. Through her mentor, she learned all of the amazing things ID has to offer, such as building relationships with like-minded students, connections to industry partners, and opportunities to study material that aligned with her out-going personality. Being interested in finance soon led her to add a Minor in Business to her degree plan. After the PAID officers presented in her IDIS 240 class, Peri was convinced that she wanted to be a part of such a unique organization. She immediately applied to be on the PAID Committee and was elected shortly after. This inspired her to run for a PAID officer position, where she fell in love with serving this organization. The experiences Peri has encountered in PAID have helped her develop both personally and professionally.

Personal Interests

Along with PAID, Peri is an active member of the women’s organization, Aggie Sweethearts, where she currently serves on the Recruitment Team. She is also a passionate member of Restoration Church in Bryan. Peri spent the last two summers volunteering as a Fish Camp counselor, where she helped welcome the incoming class of Aggie freshmen and introduced them to Aggie traditions. She is also a member of the Sigma Delta Honor Society. Peri was a member of Freshman Reaching Excellence in Engineering (FREE), and she also served this organization as a BIG mentor. Peri loves anything that presents a challenge, whether it’s competitive shotgun shooting, thrifting for profit, or participating in outdoor games with her friends. Peri is thrilled to have accepted a return offer to intern with Trane Technologies for the second time as a Sales Engineer for Summer 2023, and she is looking forward to this opportunity for career development and personal growth. Peri is eager to fully invest herself into fueling PAID’s mission, and intends to utilize every skill she has gained from her past experiences to accomplish PAID’s goals.

Alan Hou

Alan Hou

Responsibilities

As VP of Information Systems, Alan is responsible for all items related to rosters, members, and events. Specific roles include keeping the PAID website updated, managing the PAID points system, designing the PAID Marketplace, and creating events on Maroon Link. Alan’s favorite part of his role is networking with members during the check-in process at every event. Alan’s plan is to continue updating the website to be easier to navigate, and to further connect students with industry partners through accurate data management.

Path to ID and PAID

Alan grew up in Cypress, TX, and was set on coming to A&M after touring the campus. After not enjoying general engineering classes online his freshman year, his eagerness to become a chemical engineer waned. When ETAM came around, he had to make a choice. Unlike others’ entrances to ID, Alan went to A&M’s list of degrees, discovered ID, and decided to put it down as his preferred major. That was the best decision he’s made thus far in his professional career, and he hasn’t looked back. He was immediately hooked on ID’s culture after the first day in Evan’s 240 class, and became extremely active in PAID. After serving on Committee this past Spring of 2022, Alan will continue serving the PAID community by assisting in connecting students with industry. Alan wants to give back to PAID as PAID has given so much to him, which he plans on doing by continuing to focus his efforts as VP of Information Systems.

Personal Interests

Outside of PAID, Alan enjoys spending time with his friends, cooking, playing basketball, and working out. You will frequently find him at the Rec Center, either in the weight room or on the basketball court, where he promotes living an active and healthy lifestyle. He worked in a professional kitchen as a summer job, which further promoted his passion for cooking. He is also a student worker for the ID department, so you might catch him working at the front desk if you visit some of the professors.

Katherine Loomis

Katherine Loomis

Responsibilities

As VP of Development, Katherine is responsible for the overall professional development of the Officer group as a team. Her role is to actively work to integrate the team and develop the relationships. As the Officer team’s days get busy with tasks, she helps make sure that the team continues to do things together. Katherine  is responsible for planning and executing the Distinguished Recruiter Banquet, organizing different Officer conferences throughout the year, in charge of all Officer and Committee elections, and maintains the PAID calendar. Katherine’s overall goal is to make sure things are running smoothly internally so that the Officer team can push their efforts on benefiting the rest of the organization.

Path to ID and PAID

Katherine grew up in Grapevine, TX. With two Aggie parents and a strong interest in math and science, she knew she wanted to be an engineer at Texas A&M the second she stepped foot on campus and was introduced to the culture of College Station. However, Katherine was always interested in business and working closely with people in her future career. After a conversation with her dad, an Industrial Distribution graduate (’97), Industrial Distribution advisors, and other ID students and graduates, she decided that Industrial Distribution was the perfect fit for her. Since joining ID, Katherine has fallen in love with the major, its environment, its opportunities, and being around other ID students. She leaves class each day excited because she genuinely enjoys what she is learning and the connections she is making. From her very first week in ID, Katherine has seen the important role PAID plays in ID, as it allows students to develop skills that will propel them forward in their future careers and make connections with multiple industry partners as undergraduate students. Katherine served on the PAID committee in the Spring 2022 term, working with all PAID officers to assist at all events and improve PAID. This experience truly allowed her to see how PAID worked behind the scenes and motivated her to become PAID’s Marketing Officer in the 2022-2023 academic year. After an incredible year getting to serve so closely to PAID with the goal of leaving the organization and the marketing role better than she found it, Katherine is very excited for the new opportunity to serve PAID and the officer team as the VP of Development.

Personal Interests

Outside of PAID, Katherine is an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta and Student Engineers’ Council and volunteers at her church. She has previously served as Kappa Alpha Theta’s Thetafest promotional chairman and as Student Engineers Council’s EnVision registration coordinator. She also enjoyed being involved with Impact Retreat, a Texas A&M freshman transition retreat where she had the opportunity to serve as a counselor in the summers following her freshman and sophomore years. When she is not with friends or studying, you can find her outside with a book enjoying the sun, in a barre or pilates class, jamming out to music, or on a roadtrip to somewhere new.

This not only allows for more opportunities to get highly involved in PAID, but encourages the students to strengthen their bonds between each other and create more connections within the student body and with recruiters.

Path to ID and PAID

Ainsley grew up in Cypress, Texas. Coming into Texas A&M, she knew she wanted to study a major that would prepare her for a people-oriented career, but she still wanted a background in engineering due to her love for math and science. She was fortunate enough to have family friends that had graduated from the Industrial Distribution program a few years ago that informed her about the major. Once Ainsley finished her discussion with them, she was hooked on the major and never looked back! Ainsley absolutely loves what the major has to teach, and she also loves the people around her who are also learning with her. Cole loved his 240 class, especially when the PAID officers that came and introduced everyone to PAID and what is had to offer. After experiencing PAID for a semester, Cole decided to run for Data Analytics officer. After not being awarded the position, Cole decided to apply for PAID committee in the fall. Throughout his memorable and influential time on committee, he knew he wanted to run again. Cole looks forward to enhancing his time in ID and PAID.

He also learned that he had a knack for problem solving and various activities that in turn led to him wanting to pursue a degree in engineering. Carter initially wanted to attend the United States Naval Academy, but failing the medical examination inhibited him from attending the academy after high school. He instead spent a year at home in Dallas attending Collin Community College and working two jobs for Barringer Custom Homes and Five Tool Baseball. Carter then applied for a transfer to the engineering school at Texas A&M University. He was admitted into Industrial and Systems Engineering and began school at A&M in the Fall of 2021 as a Sophomore. The first semester as an Aggie presented many opportunities to Carter, and he joined the Aggie Men’s Club and PAID quickly falling in love with A&M and its long-standing traditions. However, Carter realized he did not possess a passion to pursue a degree and career in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Through conversations with friends and professors in Industrial Distribution, Carter recognized that ID offered a degree in engineering mixed with business, which suited his personal skills and passions. Carter switched majors to Industrial Distribution in the Spring of 2022 with assistance from Evan Vestal and could not be more thrilled to pursue a degree in Industrial Distribution. He is so thankful for the people he has met, the opportunities he has been given, the faculty that have been there for him along the way, and most importantly for PAID. After spending three semesters in PAID and ID and one semester on PAID committee, Carter decided to run for Data Analytics Officer with the desire to serve and give back to the organization and people that have shaped his college experience and career path. Cassidy is also responsible for updating and managing all social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Path to ID and PAID

Cassidy was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. Growing up, Cassidy wanted to be a doctor, more specifically a dermatologist. When entering college, Cassidy had no idea what she should major in. Aer much deliberation, Cassidy concluded that she wanted to pursue a degree in the College of Engineering but took a particular interest in biomedical engineering. This was because biomedical engineering was most compatible with the pre-med track required for medical school. When Cassidy went through her prerequisite engineering classes, she was exposed to many different engineering departments that piqued her interest, specifically Industrial Distribution Engineering. This major combined the technicality of engineering and the reasonability of business that Cassidy desired in a career. This altered Cassidy’s viewpoint to take a total 180 and change her perspective on education to Industrial Distribution. After this switch, Cassidy learned about all the opportunities that PAID offered within ID at DI Saturday, such as connecting with industry partners, being encircled by like-minded people, and events that intrigued her outgoing character. This seemed to be right up Cassidy’s alley, so she decided to join PAID that Saturday evening.
