My son is a student in the ID department graduating in May. I was telling him I was looking for a new sales person and he recommended I contact you. I work for Wholesome Sweeteners – we are a natural and organic sweetener company with sales of approximately $200MM. The industrial sales department is $50 million and we are are the B2B arm of the business. Sugar is interesting as it is a protected commodity and we have to work within the customs tranche system. Given the fact that this is a commodity, we work within a crop cycle and US customs is involved – sales people are heavily involved in logistics and forecasting with the operations team. Bringing product to the wrong warehouse can quickly dissolve any margin. Additionally, we have fixed cost warehouses and 3 PLs – we can store product longer at the first one but need to turn inventory every 3 months at the 3 PLs.
I am looking for a new salesperson and given the complexities of our business I thought it might be worthwhile to look for an intern that can work with me on spreadsheets – etc. next semester and if everything works out go full time after graduation. The full time job description is attached and I can certainly amend for an intern to full time position – but wanted to get your thoughts. Is this something you could assist with? For the intern portion I’m looking to pay $16 an hour. The full-time entry level sales position is slated at $80,000 plus bonus, benefits, 401K etc. I am open to this person working remotely but they will have to come to Sugar Land (once hired Full time for training.) I would appreciate your feedback on whether this is something that your students would be interested in.
Sincerely,
Jody
